Technical Development
Technical Development is the phase where ideas become reality. Generally, this is when concepts and ideas adapt to the technical requirements of manufacturing processes, but it is also common for concepts to drive innovation in those processes.
As an iterative and cyclical process, technical development involves a combination of tools aimed at detailing all aspects of the product in preparation for industrial manufacturing. The methods used are as diverse as the needs: technical drawings, detailed 3D modeling, component integration, functional mockups, rapid and functional prototypes, material research, ergonomic validation, functionality testing, and more.
Technical development also enables a preliminary cost analysis with suppliers and external resources. This is the stage for performance testing and the beginning of sourcing parts and components.
Beyond the technical aspects, this phase also ensures alignment with the previously defined strategy. It serves as a validation of the ideas developed during the concept phase. This proof of concept confirms the product’s maturity and prepares it for the design for manufacturing stage.
